Providing speedy justice our duty: CJ
KARACHI: Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry on Monday said that the judiciary was duty bound to provide speedy justice to all citizens.
He made these remarks while hearing cases at the Karachi Division of the Supreme Court.
The chief justice is in Karachi on a six-day visit during which he is expected to hear more than 200 cases. Two benches, each comprising three judges of the Supreme Court, were constituted for this purpose.
During the course of Monday’s session, the chief justice heard 21 out of the 25 cases scheduled for the day.
The chief justice is also expected to meet with delegations of judicial staff and lawyers during his stay. Chief Justice Iftikhar will also attend oath-taking ceremonies of the Karachi Bar Association, the Sindh High Court Bar Association and the Sindh Bar Council Association on Saturday.
