The ruthlessness of the Punjab police has now come to light in an undeniable way with video footage relaying four separate incidents Chiniot, Hafizabad, Lahore and an undisclosed thaana, have unveiled the claims of Kahdm-e-Aala and his so called justice. Why has the Punjab police been allowed to get away with this kind of atrocity for so long, making them cocky enough to now bring their sadism out into the open? But the far bigger question is whether Punjab Government seriously wants to change the Thana culture and wants to bring culprits to book?
Never, I believe never, because PML-N always played dirty politics, that revolves around thana culture only. Police is an effective tool for PML-N to pressurize, punish and teach a lesson to its opponents. I could remember that during Long March, how many police officers refused to take any action against PML-N workers. This is called loyalty and nexus of PML-N with Punjab police.
It is no secret that PML-N have used the long arm of the law to dictate and enforce everything from extra-judicial killings to moulding the letter and spirit of the law to suit their own convenience. This has given police a certain kind of arrogance, making them believe they are above the law.
