CJ PHC imposed ban on suo moto notice

Peshawar: Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court has banned the judges of the court to take suo moto notice without permission.

Chief Justice Ijaz Afzal Khan has issued the orders in which the judges are bound to take permission before taking suo moto notice for any case.
The judges of Peshawar High Court, earlier, had taken suo moto notices against the violation of common interests and basic rights.

RPPs case suo motu proceedings today

Islamabad: Supreme Court of Pakistan has taken suo moto notice of Rental Power Projects (RPPs).

Three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary will start hearings from Monday.
Other two members of the bench are Justice Khalil-ur-Rehman Ramday and Justice Ghulam Rabbani.

Full Court meeting in SC, reviewes various issues

Islamabad: A Full Court meeting was held in the Supreme Court under the Chairmanship of the Honorable Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and discussed several issues including two holidays in week, efficiency of Advocates-On-Record (AORs) and reviewed the pendency of the cases for last one year and discussed means to expedite processing of the cases.

Bidding process for LNG was not transparent: SC

Islamabad: The Supreme Court on Thursday observed that there could be a lack of transparency in awarding a billion-dollar contract for importing Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to a French company, GDF Suez.

Const amend cannot be challenged in court, Aitzaz

Islamabad: Former President of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Aitzaz Ahsan said that the Constitutional amendment cannot be challenged in any court, Supreme court can suggest change in constitution.
